ICAD 13-19

This year I’m participating in ICAD (Index Card A Day) again, it’s my second time. There’s a weekly theme with daily prompts. I share them on my Facebook blog the day I create them and I’ll write a weekly post with more info here. You can find the theme and prompts at DaisyYellow.

Day 13, 14 and 17 are inspired by the Universe tutorial at Daisy Yellow. Day 15, 16, 18 and 19 are inspired by Tammy’s mandala’s.

ICAD 6-12

This year I’m participating in ICAD (Index Card A Day) again, it’s my second time. There’s a weekly theme with daily prompts. I share them on my Facebook blog the day I create them and I’ll write a weekly post with more info here. You can find the theme and prompts at Daisy Yellow.

A quote on an acrylic background for day 6. For the border I used rub on stickers.
A Dutch tongue twister with a simple drawing and some stamps for day 7. You can hear the first part of this tongue twister in this YouTube video.
A one staple collage for day 8. There’s a tutorial for this at Daisy Yellow.
A pink collage for day 9 inspired by Dolores Umbridge and an old card game.
A Yellow collage with a quote for day 10.
The result of day 11 is not what I had in mind, but I enjoyed making it.
Acrylic paint, old postage stamps, markers and embroidery floss for day 12. I used Holbein stitch for my border. I didn’t use knots, I just secured the thread with tape.

X-ray stitch

Last Sunday Queeniepatch introduced us to the X-ray stitch in her Sunday Stitch School. I made a small Aida sampler to give it a try.
I started with 3 X-ray stitches in perle 8.
Then I made a variation with variegated perle 5.
I continued with the same thread with another variation.
Here I used the X-ray stitch as a border in 2 threads of stranded floss.
I like this stitch and hope to use it again when I have more time. I think it would be nice to add some beads!

ICAD 1-5

This year I’m participating in ICAD (Index Card A Day) again, it’s my second time. There’s a weekly theme with daily prompts. I share them on my Facebook blog the day I create them and I’ll write a weekly post with more info here. You can find the theme and prompts at DaisyYellow.

For my first card I painted old book pages from the Dutch book Dokter Vlimmen in yellow, orange and red. I tore strips from these pages and glued them on my card. The blue stripes in the background are made with a very old marker. I decorated my card with a sun stamp.
On this second card I made some found poetry from our local newspaper on a graffiti background. It’s in Dutch and grammatically correct, but doesn’t make sense.
On card three I glued a vintage lady and added a matching quote. The background is again made with a marker.
Of course I have to add some embroidery to my cards from time to time. This lavender is inspired by a Lavender & Lace fabric book page I made a few years ago. I stitched on a painted book page.
This morning I made card 5. Just a simple collage to say I like snail mail. I received the kawaii postman in a swap.

Wonder31

I finished the last 4 prompts of Daisy Yellow’s Wonder31 prompts in my altered book. For prompt 28 I used a photo of a kaleidoscope I made in 2011. It's a detail of my embroidery made with an online tool. Take a look at the other kaleidoscopes I made at time the here. the background is acrylic paint and washi tape.
28 Kaleidoscope
For prompt 29 I made a collage from magazine clippings and an old typed page from a book report a made for my school exams, many years ago. I’m glad I still have these, because I don’t have a typewriter anymore.
29 Typewriter
Prompt 30 was difficult. I tried to make thunder clouds with black and white acrylic paint. The word bliksem (which is Dutch for lightening) is cut from shiny golden origami paper.
30 Thunder & lightening
Of course I had to use my zodiac sign for prompt 31. I found this cross stitched Saggitarius last year at my parents’ house. I remember I stitched this many many years ago, so it’s nice to finally use it.
31 Zodiac
I'm glad I finished my prompts in time for ICAD, which starts on June 1. I share them on my Facebook blog the day I create them and I’ll write a weekly post with more info here. You can read all about ICAD at Daisy Yellow.

Wonder31

I finished prompts 21-27 of Daisy Yellow’s Wonder31 prompts in my altered books. For prompt 21 I took a pretty photo and cut it in pieces. I glued them in my altered book, added green acrylic paint and drew a few red lines with a Fude ball.
21 Horizon
For prompt 22 I painted the background in orange acrylic paint. While I waited for it to dry I wrote about our uncertain times (my husband lost his job last month). I used an orange gell pen. I tore the paper in pieced and collaged it to the background. The quote is added with a bold marker.
22 Uncertain
Prompt 23 reminded me of the batik scraps of the first fabric book page I made a few years ago. It had Mistyfuse at the back, so I could iron the batik roosters to my collage.
23 Batik
I knew prompt 24 was fruit, so I was putting fruit stitckers on this page for weeks. It’s the last spread in my altered book Rooie, so now I can finish the outside of this book.
24 Fruit
Of course I had to use the zentangle Paradox for this prompt, it’s one of my favourite zentangles!
25 Paradox
Prompt 26 reminded me of the collage I made for ICAD last year, but now I wanted to do something different. It’s inspired by the word clouds you can make online. Wolk is Dutch for cloud.
26 Cloud
For prompt 27 I used the same photo as the self-portrait I made for the Mixed Emotions workshop.
27 Self-portrait
As you can see I have speed up the proces of making the Wonder31 prompts. I want to finish them this month, because I’m participating in ICAD in June and July. It will be my second year. You can read all about ICAD at Daisy Yellow.
